About us
Arts Access Aotearoa is a national organisation that strives for an inclusive society where all people are able to participate in the arts, whatever their circumstances. We work to increase artistic opportunities for our key stakeholders: people with intellectual and physical disabilities, youth at risk, the elderly, mental health consumers, disadvantaged migrants, refugees and prisoners.
Vision
To have an inclusive society where all people are able to participate in the arts, whatever their circumstances.
Artistic vision
To support and promote arts activities, created by marginalised individuals and communities and reflecting quality, diversity and difference.
Purpose
To work with individuals and communities, promoting an inclusive approach to the arts and culture.
To support opportunities for marginalised people to participate in the arts for their overall health and wellbeing.
Values
We believe that all people have a right to creative expression as part of their wellbeing and should have access to opportunities to develop their own arts.
In all aspects of its work, Arts Access Aotearoa seeks to uphold the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi. It also recognises the cultural autonomy of all the individuals and communities it deals with, including those based on ethnicity, age, mental health and disability.
