Prison art returns to Mairangi Arts Centre

Auckland Mayor Len Brown will open Inside Out 2, the second exhibition of prison art at Mairangi Arts Centre in Auckland on Saturday 9 April. As with the first exhibition, it will feature artworks created by prisoners in Auckland Prison and Northland Region Corrections Facility.

There will be carved waka, intricate and detailed paintings, and patu and sculptures expressing the Māori and Pacific cultures.

Last year, more than $9000 was donated to Victim Support from the sale of artworks. This year, profits will be donated to the Red Cross Christchurch appeal.
