Vincents Art Workshop celebrates 25 years at Fringe 2010
4 February 2010 Vincents Art Workshop, the oldest creative space in New Zealand, will launch the first of many celebrations for its 25th anniversary on Saturday 13 February as part of the 2010 Fringe Festival in Wellington. Included during the day will be guided tours of the studios, free art activities and the chance to sample silver cupcakes, plus tea and coffee for a donation.
The whole day will have themes of silver and celebration, and include the opening of an exhibition, themed around the silver jubilee celebrations and featuring a number of Vincents artists. All sales will be cash and carry. The exhibition will run for the duration of the Fringe Festival and will close on Friday 5 March.
Vincents has been actively involved with the Fringe Festival in Wellington over the past 20 years. It is also well-known for many other community event involvements in Wellington.
“Artists and staff are excited about showcasing Vincents to Wellington at the beginning of a momentous year in the magnificent history and future of Vincents,” Co-ordinator Glen McDonald says. “We’ve got some serious celebrating to do and we’d like the Fringe 2010 audience to help us.”
Many Vincents’ artists have achieved national and international recognition and success and others have transformed their lives due to their creative and personal development at Vincents.
