Resene: Mural Masterpieces Competition

Each year Resene holds the Mural Masterpieces Competition. This year entries close 11 November 2011. The competition is nationwide and there is over $5,000 worth of prizes to be won. To enter go to a Resene shop and pick up a flyer or visit the website to register your details online. There are four classes of entry:

• Best School Mural
• Best Community Mural
• Best Professional Mural
• Best Mural Design

Good news about BreakOut

BreakOut is a searchable database of 2200 awards, scholarships and grants for artists, students, researchers, sports people and those wanting professional development opportunities. Located on the Funding Information Service website, the database will give you the best matches to suit your needs, along with closing dates, application requirements and contact details.

You have to pay a fee or annual subscription to access this database from the Funding Information Service website. However, the good news is that every region has public libraries or other organisations where you can use BreakOut free of charge. Click here to view the locations.

Another option is to go to the funding page of the Ministry for Culture and Heritage's website. Using the search function, you can describe the kind of funding you are looking for. Awards, scholarships, fellowships and residencies are among the options.
