The Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards

The Volunteer Awards nominations close on Friday 30 July 2010. The awards are sponsored by Wellington International Airport in partnership with The Community Trust of Wellington. The Volunteer Awards recognise volunteer groups in five categories, including “arts and culture”.

You can nominate any not-for-profit group or organisation working in the interests of the community (including your own). The awards are also open to community groups who use professionals to support the volunteers' services. The awards function is hosted by the Mayor on Tuesday 24 August. Good news about BreakOut

BreakOut is a searchable database of 2200 awards, scholarships and grants for artists, students, researchers, sports people and those wanting professional development opportunities. Located on the Funding Information Service website, the database will give you the best matches to suit your needs, along with closing dates, application requirements and contact details.

You have to pay a fee or annual subscription to access this database from the Funding Information Service website. However, the good news is that every region has public libraries or other organisations where you can use BreakOut free of charge. Click here to view the locations.

Another option is to go to the funding page of the Ministry for Culture and Heritage's website. Using the search function, you can describe the kind of funding you are looking for. Awards, scholarships, fellowships and residencies are among the options.
